My Revived Motivation

With PJ’s newly found motivation to eat better and be more healthy this year, I found myself last night spending hours in the blogging world hopping around checking out healthy bloggers that I found through a blog hop. I do know what the healthy foods are, but it was great to see how others incorporate these foods daily and their meal ideas. Thus, I now have a revived motivation to do the same again. Years back when I started working out and running, I changed my eating habits. I was one of those people that ate the way these healthy bloggers ate.  However, over the past few years it has waivered a bit and I fell away from working out for a little while. For the most part, though, those eating habits stuck with me and I still try to eat fairly healthy. It is, after all, a lifestyle change, right? So I never really lost my re-trained eating habits. I still semi-watch what I’m eating; I still incorporate egg whites and lean meats in my daily diet; I still eat several small meals a day versus three big meals; and as you all know, I’ve become a runner again.

IMG_0796With all that being said, I stopped at the grocery store this afternoon and stocked up on fruit, a big tub of vanilla yogurt, baby spinach, cartons of egg whites, and bags of frozen fruit for smoothies (even a couple of those Yoplait smoothie bags that I’ve been dying to try). I didn’t intend to buy egg whites since I still have a few cartons in my freezer, but the brand that I love was on sale so I couldn’t resist! And now I’ve got ideas running through my head all day.

I want to buy more of a variety of fruit and freeze my own for the smoothies. Those bags of frozen fruit are convenient, yes, but I think I may get more of my money’s worth if I buy it fresh and freeze it myself.  Plus, after I got home from the shopping trip, I noticed my neighbor out in her back yard picking greens out of her garden…so guess what? Yep, that’s right, I’m now yearning to plant my own garden!

But that, my dear readers, is another blog post…
